Royal Wedding Fever! Phoenix Event Designer shares her ideas
Celebrate Harry and Meghans’s big day with a Traditional British-Fun American Watch Party
Don’t you love a fairy tale? As a Phoenix Event Designer, we definitely have royal wedding fever and had SO much fun creating our version of a watch party!
With Megan hailing from the state of California, we combined some fun elements from her home state to bring a more casual and fun feel. And while Britain and the royal family is known for their tradition, we think Harry would approve of our spin on some of their well-known dishes.
So beginning the design process, we purchased a commemorative plate from England. And this became our color scheme. Cornflower blue, gold and white. And this became inspiration for other pieces. Our invitation was modeled after the actual invitation that was sent, with a few modifications, of course! And our guests are invited to come in proper attire–pajamas and hat ; )
Serving Chandon, a California sparkling wine, complete with their logo’d label is a nod to Meghan. And we added fruit juices and berries to complete the champagne bar. So guests can serve themselves at their leisure.
Because food is always a great way to add fun to any event. And always top of mind to us as Phoenix Event Designers. So select foods your guests will enjoy. And we started with a variety of specialty tea sandwiches with an American twist. So ours included: Mango Chicken Salad in Profiteroles; Rosemary Sea Salt Toast with roasted heirloom tomato and English Cheddar; Strawberry, Basil and Cream Cheese; Smoked Salmon and Pancetta with fresh dill; Avocado Toast Squares.
And scones are not to be missed at any proper English event. The chocolate chip and bacon scones were my personal favorite. And we also served orange and cranberry scones and lemon lavender. Remember the jam, lemon curd and clotted cream. Because reportedly, Meghan has a passion for tater-tots. So we served up tater-tot waffles, complete with bacon, cheese, sour cream with a touch of green onion. And for the health-conscious, an acai bowl topped with granola, chia seeds, sliced almonds, shredded coconut and berries, garnished with mint sprigs.
So after a lavish spread like that, guests may want to take a nap–ha! And as we have a penchant for sweets, remember to include a cake, cupcake, or sweet treat to top off the celebration.
Because florals provide a beautiful decor element that delights the senses. And incorporating white garden roses (Diana’s favorite) along with foxglove, English Ivy and delphinium, was the perfect focal point for the table.
And any guests who are willing to get up in the middle of the night for a party, deserve a parting gift! So our fancy swag bag, complete with a label of the couple’s logo included a split of sparkling wine. And Meghan’s favorite tea (Teapigs). Along with biscuits from England and custom ‘Royal Paws’ decorated treats for the royal pup in your family.
So to send-off guests, we’re planning a surprise sparkler exit as they head home, probably for a nap! And with the lovely touches of the day, prepare yourself to receive accolades from your guests. Because as a Phoenix Event Designer, we never tire of hearing guests exclamations and we’re sure you won’t either ; )
So cheers to Harry and Meghan and to you and your guests!
